01 / The problem
What was getting in the way
At HSM Solutions, I managed an $8M+ portfolio of B2B customer relationships. Each account had its own priorities, decision-makers, open commitments, risks, and opportunities.
The problem was keeping many moving parts clear at the same time. A customer request could involve timing, internal capacity, competitive pressure, and several stakeholders. We needed to understand the real need before choosing the next move.
Trust depended on honest answers and reliable follow-through. We had to keep commitments moving without promising more than the business could deliver.
02 / Our approach
The decisions we made first
My roleI was the ongoing relationship owner. We used consultative discovery, executive communication, account plans, and CRM records to connect customer needs with clear commitments, risks, and appropriate opportunities.
Understand the need behind the request
We asked what the customer was trying to accomplish, who was involved, and what practical constraints could affect the right solution.
Tie growth to customer value
We looked for new opportunities inside the account by understanding what the customer needed and where we could genuinely help. Growth followed useful relationship work, not a separate sales pitch.
Keep open work and risk visible
We used account plans and CRM records to maintain one clear view of commitments, opportunities, next steps, and relationship concerns.
03 / What we built
How the solution came together
Regular customer discovery
We used customer conversations to clarify priorities, find new needs, and separate a genuine opportunity from something that was not a good fit.
Communication matched to the decision
We adapted the conversation to the people, business stakes, and decision involved instead of treating every account interaction as a generic check-in.
One view of the account
We kept customer needs, commitments, pipeline, and risks in CRM and account plans so customer follow-through and internal coordination started from the same facts.
